Rajasthan Public service commission (RPSC) released notification for recruitment of RPSC AEN (assitant engineers) in 2018. RPSC AEN 2018 notification mentioned total 916 posts for assistant engineers in various departments of like water resource department, Public works department, Public health engineering department and panchayati Raj department. Later in RPSC announced prelim exam dates for RPSC AEN. RPSC assistant engineer 2018 Prelim exam was conducted on 16th, 17th and 18th December 2018. Result of RPSC AEN has not been released yet.

RPSC AEN Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who wants to apply for RPSC AEN 2018 should have minimum age 21 or maximum 40 years.

Interested candidates must have engineering degree in relevant branch according to the department they want to apply. Candidates who are applying for panchayati raj must have engineering degree in civil or agriculture engineering.

RPSC AEN Exam Pattern

Rajasthan government body RPSC will conduct exam for assistant engineer recruitment in the phases, prelims, mains and interview or personality test.


RPSC AEN Pre exam have two question papers of objective type. One will be compulsory and other optional. following are the details of compulsory and optional question papers.


General knowledge & General Science MAX MARKS 200 TIME 2 hours including General knowledge of Rajasthan its Geography, Economy and culture

List of Optional papers :- (any one paper to be opted by a candidate).

  • Civil Engineering MAX MARKS 200 TIME 2 hours
  • Electrical Engineering MAX MARKS 200 TIME 2 hours
  • Mechanical Engineering MAX MARKS 200 2 hours
  • Agricultural Engineering 200 TIME 2 hours

RPSC AEN Mains Exam

The RPSC AEN 2018 mains written examination will consist of the following papers of conventional type. There will be two question papers for each optional subject ( civil, mechanical,agriculture and mechanical ) . Maximum time for each paper will be three hours.

Compulsory Subject

  • Paper – I Hindi – Maximum Marks 100
  • Paper – II Social aspects of Engineering – Maximum Marks 100

Optional Subjects

Paper – III and Paper – IV will be from the following list of optional subjects. Each subject will have two papers

  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Agricultural Engineering

Personality Test/ Interview

  • Aspirants who has obtain minimum qualifying marks in the written exam of the RPSC assistant engineer 2018 Main examination as fixed by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission will be called for interview and also No candidate who fails to obtain a minimum of 35% marks in each of the two compulsory papers and a minimum of 40% marks in the aggregate will be called by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission Commission for interview. Interview has total 72 marks.
  • The Rajasthan Public Service Commission will award marks to each candidates interviewed by them. Interview marks will be awarded in respect of character, personality, address and physique, knowledge of Rajasthani culture. A candidate must have sound knowledge of Rajasthani culture because RPSC has clearly mentioned about this in its notification. Interview marks will be added to mains marks for merit list.
  • Question paper difficulty will be that of a Bachelor’s engineering Degree level except paper on Hindi which will be of Senior Secondary Level.
  • All papers can be answered in either Hindi or English. But no candidate can write answer in partial Hindi or English language.
  • Candidate must have good hand writing because RPSC has right to deduct marks if handwriting is not proper and readable.
  • It is mandatory for a candidate to appear in all the compulsory papers and in optional papers.
